About this role
We are looking for an individual to be the first Volta employee in Western Europe. In this role, you will be the primary technical representative for Volta Labs in Western Europe, ensuring that our growing fleet of deployed Callisto instruments delivers exceptional reliability and performance. A successful candidate will have strong electromechanical and troubleshooting skills, thrive in customer-facing settings, and enjoy solving complex problems in the field.

Who are we looking for...
- 3+ years of experience in field service, technical support, or engineering roles for complex electromechanical systems.
- Strong technical background in mechanical, electrical, or systems engineering with demonstrated hands-on troubleshooting ability.
- Familiarity with Linux terminal and basic scripting (Python preferred).
- Excellent critical thinking skills and ability to debug complex systems under pressure.
- Strong communication and documentation skills, capable of representing Volta Labs in the field.
- Ability to travel 50–75% of the time, primarily within Western Europe.
- Engineering or technical degree preferred but not required.
- Experience in life sciences tools, medical devices, or other high-reliability instrumentation preferred but not required.
what you can expect...
- Prioritise customer success by ensuring the quality and reliability of deployed Callisto instruments.
- Lead new instrument deployments: customer communications, installation, qualification, and training.
- Monitor health of deployed instruments. When issues arise, you will spearhead identifying root causes and determining corrective paths.
- Carry out routine maintenance and repairs across the Western Europe installed base.
- When not at Customer Sites, you will work on projects to improve Instrument Testing and Reliability. These could include: developing protocols and scripts to more efficiently run Subsystem Checks, designing test hardware, improving Callisto Qualification documentation, and designing Dashboards for Fleet Management.
- Independently lead instrument deployments with remote support. Take ownership of customer relationships during installation and service events.
- Serve as the lead Field Service Engineer in Western Europe, independently managing deployments, service schedules, and customer success. Build scalable documentation, processes, and systems for field service.
- Play a key role in shaping Volta’s long-term field service strategy as we expand across Europe.
