About this role
We’re looking for a Technical Sales Specialist to drive commercial success for Callisto in the Netherlands and neighbouring countries. As our first commercial hire in Europe, you will be responsible for developing new customer relationships, managing the sales cycle from lead qualification to close, and contributing to Volta’s rapid expansion in the region.

Who are we looking for...
- BSc, MSc, or PhD in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Genetics, Genomics, or related field
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a commercial customer-facing role (e.g., technical sales, business development, in genomics/NGS)
- Proven track record in scientific instrument or consumables sales, ideally in NGS, genomics, or automation
- Deep understanding of molecular biology workflows and an ability to translate customer needs into technical and commercial value
- Experience managing complex sales cycles with multiple stakeholders and decision makers
- Strong presentation and communication skills - comfortable engaging both technical and business audiences
- Motivated self-starter with a hunter mentality, able to succeed in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment
- Willingness to travel extensively within the region (≥ 50%)
what you can expect...
- Own the full sales cycle: identify, qualify, engage, and close opportunities within academic, biotech, pharma, and clinical research markets
- Develop territory and account plans to deliver revenue growth and increase market penetration
- Drive product demonstrations and commercial evaluations in collaboration with Field Applications Scientists
- Lead technical sales presentations and articulate the unique benefits of Callisto workflows vs. traditional automation and manual methods
- Build strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels - scientists, lab managers, technical directors, procurement teams, and executives
- Provide market insights, including competitive intel and customer feedback, to inform commercial strategy and product development
- Represent Volta Labs at conferences, workshops, and regional events
